A $100,000 Keeneland September yearling, she was bred by Martyn Arbib, sold by Sequel Bloodstock (Becky Thomas, agent) and purchased by Mike Ryan, Agent.

At the Keeneland January Sale, the two mares sold in foal to War Chant averaged $600,000. La Galerie (ARG) (96 m. by Southern Halo) was purchased by Hopewell Farm as agent for Mrs. Betty Mabee for $800,000 and Defer West (91m. by Gone West) was purchased by Classic Star for $400,000. The 15 mares sold in foal to War Chant last year and to date in 2004 have averaged $253,333, making him a Top 25 Covering Sire.
War Chant is a Top TEN Sire of Weanlings sold in 2003 and to date in 2004. The five War Chant weanlings sold averaged $181,000. Right behind him (at # 10) is Dynaformer, whose three weanlings sold averaged $170,000.

At the Keeneland September Sale, the top priced War Chant was $600,000 for a colt out of Arborea sold by Gainesway and purchased by B. Wayne Hughes. Through the September Sale Book 3 (when the last of the War Chant yearlings had sold), his average for the year was $208,000 and the median was an extremely healthy $200,000 -- second highest of all the Freshman Sires.

WAR CHANT was weighted at 123 pounds on the International Classifications of 2000 for 3-year-olds released this week. That makes him the highest weighted 3-year-old miler racing in the U.S. this year. He is one of three finalists for the 3-year-old and up Turf Male Eclipse Award.
