Waccamaw (06 f. o/o Under The Rug, by Lord At War) got up for third and earned her first taste of black type on July 1 in the $106,141 Sweet Briar Too S. at Woodbine. LONDON CHINA TOWN (07 g. o/o Green Minstrel, by Green Tune) is a winning machine! Since March of this year, the Hong Kong-based gelding has posted five wins in some competitive contests. Most recently he won the 850,000HK Derby Restaurant and Bar Handicap going 1,000 meters, which seems to be his specialty distance.

CHAMBERLAIN BRIDGE (04 g. o/o She's Got Class, by Trempolino) is the first horse confirmed to be going to the Breeders' Cup after a ÒWin and You're In' victory in the $125,000 Arlington Sprint H. The colt was an easy 4-1/2 length winner on the lawn that day and is headed for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint this November. His record now stands at 27-13-4-6 with earnings of 781,445. DONCASTER ROVER (06 c. o/o Rebridled Dreams, by Unbridled's Song) was third on June 26 at Newmarket in the Sunley Criterion S. (G3) going 7 f. on the turf. TARGHEE PASS (06 c. o/o Memory Work, by Synastry) broke his maiden with little effort, taking a $22,000 maiden event at Belmont on May 26. HIGH BRASS (05 g. o/o Piney Woods, by Valid Appeal) was the odds-on favorite and proved the public right, taking a $12,700 Mountaineer test going a mile on the dirt by a length and a half. BEAR HEART (04 g. o/o Ayanka, by Jade Hunter) dug in for the win on March 24 and came up victorious in a $26,000 Gulfstream Park sprint. The runner wasl far back early on and was in 6th at the top of the stretch, but angled out and got up late for the head win. The gelding now has a record of 14-3-1-0 and earnings of $79,174. War Chant's FIRST Grade/Group 1 winner is KINGSFORT (07 c. o/o Princess Kris, by Kris), who was a powerful winner of the Vincent O'Brien National S. (G1) at The Curragh in Ireland on Saturday, September 12. The colt was only making his second start, but his lack of experience didn't seem to phase him, as he swept past his rivals to take a Group 1 event in his second lifetime start. The colt is at the top of Ireland's two-year-old honors list, but will likely be given time to mature and be brought back as a three-year-old. If you've been thinking that War Chant's second crop (just turned-3-year-olds) seem a little quiet compared with last year, you're right Ð and there's good reason. It turns out that 33% of his second crop foals have been exported to Europe, where there is virtually no racing this time of the year.

That compares with just 11% of his first crop foals that were exported to Europe, while the rest were winning their career debuts in December, January and February last year at a prodigious rate. Now that we know that, we're getting ready for a flood of wins this April!

At the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, War Chant was the 19^TH Leading Sire for the entire sale (by average, two or more sold). His 14 yearlings sold there averaged $197,714.

At the Keeneland September Sale, the top priced War Chant was $600,000 for a colt out of Arborea sold by Gainesway and purchased by B. Wayne Hughes. Through the September Sale Book 3 (when the last of the War Chant yearlings had sold), his average for the year was $208,000 and the median was an extremely healthy $200,000 -- second highest of all the Freshman Sires.

At the Saratoga Yearling Sale, a filly by War Chant, out of Little Sister sold for $360,000 and was purchased by Paul Fout, agent.

WAR CHANT was weighted at 123 pounds on the International Classifications of 2000 for 3-year-olds released this week. That makes him the highest weighted 3-year-old miler racing in the U.S. this year. He is one of three finalists for the 3-year-old and up Turf Male Eclipse Award.
