Sky Mesa’s 4-year-old daughter Ami’s Mesa is riding a four-race winning streak into Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Del Mar.
Ami’s Mesa will have to be at her best in the seven-furlong affair, with a deep field of 14 distaffers and having been unlucky at the draw, when she was assigned the outside post in the full gate.
Undefeated in 2017, Ami’s Mesa has won three graded stakes over the synthetic surface at Woodbine and Presque Isle Downs. Her overall record stands at 6-1-0 in nine starts for owner/breeder Ivan Dalos and trainer Josie Carroll.
Saturday’s race has a scheduled post time of 4:14 p.m. ET.
Ami’s Mesa is Sky Mesa’s leading earner of 2017 and one of his nine stakes winners this year. Sky Mesa’s 2018 stud fee was recently announced at $15,000 stands and nurses.
