Funtastic Again rolled to a 3 ¾-length victory in the $125,000 Leonatus S. at Turfway on Jan. 21 to stamp 3-year-old Funtastic colt as a horse to watch on the Road to the 2023 Kentucky Derby (G1).
The dominating score was the first stakes win for the chestnut colt, who led at every point of call in the Saturday night feature. He led the field through a half-mile in :48.12 and was up by nearly two lengths when he turned for home. Under a hand ride the entire trip, he pulled away from the field with ease to stop the timer in 1:37.05 for the mile on the synthetic surface.
Owned by Three Chimneys Farm, Funtastic Again is the first stakes winner for his sire, who stands this year at Three Chimneys for $5,000 S&N. Funtastic Again has won three of his five starts and earned $184,806.
Bred in Kentucky by BHMFR LLC, Funtastic Again was purchased for $60,000 as a weanling at the 2020 Keeneland November sale.
