Stuart Janney’s homebred Sky Mesa filly My Impression gave her sire his second stakes winner in the past three days when the 3-year-old captured the initial running of the $125,000 Winter Memories S. Nov. 25 at Aqueduct.
My Impression has won five of her nine lifetime starts, including the Commonwealth Oaks (G3) and Christiana S., both in 2016, and has now earned $262,315. She is one of 11 stakes winners this year by her sire.
Tucked along the fence in sixth for the first three-quarters of a mile, My Impression found herself lacking any running room at the top of the stretch. Jose Ortiz decided to come off the fence for clear running, and My Impression came out a half-length winner in a wild finish where the top six finishers were separated by only two lengths.
My Impression, out of the Broad Bursh mare Impressionism, comes from the same female family as graded stakes winner Sky Blue Pink and multiple stakes winner Freddie Frisson.
