Gun Runner’s overseas influence made a big impact on the JHRA Select Sale this week when a 2024 colt sold for $1,863,355US in Japan.
The chestnut colt, who was foaled on Jan. 21 of this year, was consigned by Shunsuke Yoshida and sold to Y’s Consignment.
The colt is out of Armony’s Angel, who is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Conquest Big E and the stakes winner Aquapazza.
Armony’s Angel is the dam of Angel of Empire, winner of the Arkansas Derby (G1) and Risen Star S. (G2) and third-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby (G1).
Gun Runner, with just four crops of racing age, is currently ranked third on the 2024 General Sire list with $11.1 million in progeny earnings. In the sales ring this year his 2-year-olds in North America have averaged $188,961.
