Star Grazing reached for the stars in the $200,000 Indian Blessing S. at Saratoga on August 24th, and came away with a stellar inaugural stakes triumph.

Undefeated in three starts this season, Star Grazing became the eighth stakes winner, 20th current stakes performer of 2014 for Sky Mesa.

In the 1 1/8-mile Indian Blessing, Star Grazing broke well, but was content to track in mid-pack through the first seven furlongs. Coming into the stretch with a head of steam, Star Grazing split horses, collared the leader in the final sixteenth, and hit the wire going away under Angel Arroyo.

Never off the board in six starts, Star Grazing now boasts a record of 6-3-0-1 and $226,000 in earnings for owners/breeders Chester and Mary Broman.

Sky Mesa, by Pulpit out of Caress, by Storm Cat, has now sired 43 stakes winners and 82 stakes horses. He ranks third among all juvenile sires in the nation this year. Sky Mesa stood the 2014 season at Three Chimneys for $20,000 live foal.
