Gun Runner’s 2-year-old filly Senza Parole made an auspicious career debut at Saratoga on Friday, Aug. 23, winning a $100,000 maiden special weight in impressive fashion for trainer Chad Brown. The facile score earned Senza Parole a 94 Beyer Speed Figure as well as TDN Rising Star designation, becoming the 14th Rising Star for her sire.
A Don Alberto homebred, Senza Parole flashed speed away from the gate in the six-furlong fixture and raced in third early. Under Irad Ortiz Jr., she made an eye-catching move rounding the far turn and took command with ease approaching the quarter pole. She swung five wide into the stretch and powered home to win by 7 ¾ lengths as much the best in the field of seven. Senza Parole stopped the clock in a lively 1:09.84.
A chestnut filly by Gun Runner, Senza Parole is produced from the winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Senza Te, a half-sister to TDN Rising Star Flor de La Mar and to stakes winner and graded stakes-placed Catiche. Senza Parole is her dam’s initial starter. Gun Runner is currently the third-ranked General Sire of 2024 with progeny earnings of more than $12.7 million this season.
