Amorosa ran his record to a perfect 3-for-3 with a three-length victory in the $110,000 Iowa Cradle S. on September 28 at Prairie Meadows [WATCH RACE].
The Poindexter Thoroughbreds LLC homebred 2-year-old son of Sky Mesa has earned $118,950 and won his three starts by a combined 13 ¼-lengths.
Early in the six-furlong Cradle, Amorosa was part of a five-horse scramble for the lead before he backed off the pace. He sat behind a quick half-mile of :46.33 then came through an opening at the top of the stretch to take command. He drew off smartly in the stretch to win going away.
One of six winners out of Amylimehouse, Amorosa is from the same family as $1.2 million earner and multiple graded stakes winner Scott’s Scoundrel.
Veteran sire Sky Mesa has accounted for five champions, 26 graded stakes winners and more than 150 stakes horses in his illustrious career. His lifetime progeny earnings are approaching the $75 million mark.
