Foie Gras became her top-five First-Crop sire Volatile’s 23rd winner with a debut victory in a 5 ½-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds on Dec. 1 at Churchill Downs [WATCH RACE].
Owned by Three Chimneys Farm, Foie Gras won Sunday’s race despite a wide trip from post 9. She sat behind a trio of leaders until turning for home, when she came four-wide and caught Verity in deep stretch to win by a head in 1:03.67 on a fast track.
Verity was bred in Kentucky by E. H. Beau Lane and sold for $170,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Summer Yearling sale. Her unraced dam Table Manners is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed She’s Got the Beat.
Volatile, who has accounted for five stakes horses thus far in his first crop, will stand the 2025 season for $12,500 LFSN.
