A colt from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Strong Mandate brought a top bid of $220,000 during Tuesday’s session at the Keeneland September Yearling sale, one of the top five prices paid for a colt on the day.

Consigned by Rosilyn Polan’s Sunday Morning Farm and cataloged as hip No. 2689, the colt sold to Ike and Dawn Thrash. The Kentucky-bred colt is the second foal out of Thescreenisred, who is a half-sister to Sanford S. (G2) winner Wired Bryan.

Through the first eight days of the auction, Strong Mandate has had 11 individuals bring at least $100,000. He also has 11 lots remaining in the sale, which runs through Sept. 23.
