Sky Mesa, the leading sire of 2-year-old stakes horses in 2015, will have a pair of 2-year-olds in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) at Keeneland on Friday.
Sky Marshall showed his class with a maiden-breaking score by 3 ½-lengths in an allowance race at Woodbine on Aug. 26. He came back to be second to Conquest Daddyo in the track’s Summer S. (G2), traditionally the best grass stake for 2-year-olds at the meet.

Highland Sky, a turf maiden special weight winner in his debut at Saratoga on Sept. 5, was a very troubled fourth in the Pilgrim S. (G3) at Belmont a month ago. He was beaten only 1 ¼-lengths after checking behind horses with a furlong to run.
Highland Sky is owned by Joyce Young and Gerald McManis and is trained by Barclay Tagg. The colt is out of the stakes-placed Kristi With a K, who is a sister to Grade 1 winner Bit of Whimsy.
Sky Marshall drew post 9 with Luis Saez named to ride, while Highland Sky is in gate 5 with Cornelio Velasquez aboard. The one-mile race drew a full field of 14 with one also-eligible.
Friday’s Dirt Mile, race 6, has a scheduled post time of 3:30 p.m. ET.
