Society collected her fourth win in five career starts with a convincing 6 3/4-length score in the $500,000 Charles Town Oaks (G3) on Friday evening.
The 3-year-old filly is the eighth lifetime graded stakes winner for Gun Runner, who leads the Second-Crop sire list with over $8.2 million in progeny earnings and is also in the top 10 on the General Sire list.
Coming into Friday’s race off a troubled trip in the July 23 Coaching Club American Oaks (G1), Society put herself on the lead soon after the start on Friday. Chardonnay and Free Like a Girl gave chase through the first half-mile, when Society began to distance herself from the field. She was all alone in the lane and finished the seven furlongs in 1:23.42 on a fast track.
Society won the Monomoy Girl S. prior to the CCA, and has now earned $545,775 for owner/breeder Peter Blum. The chestnut filly’s dam Etiquette is a sister to graded stakes winner Pleasant Prince.
