Sky Mesa’s multiple graded stakes-winning daughter was named Champion Older Female and Champion Female Sprinter at the April 19th Canadian Sovereign Awards ceremony, the country’s equivalent of the Eclipse Awards.
Ami’s Mesa was undefeated in three starts in her 4-year-old Canadian campaign in 2017, capturing an allowance in June, then winning the Ontario Matron (G3) and Seaway S. (G3), all at Woodbine. Shipped to the U. S. for the Presque Isle Masters (G2), Ami’s Mesa continued her winning ways, taking the race by a length. She wrapped up 2017 with another extremely gallant effort, beaten just a nose in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Del Mar.
Back in training this year, the Ivan Dalos homebred began her current campaign in Keeneland’s Madison S. (G1), where she was beaten only 1 1/2-lengths on April 7.
Sky Mesa, who has five stakes horses this year, is standing at Three Chimneys Farm for $15,000 in 2018, and will be available for viewing during the farm’s May 3rd open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
