Skyway zipped to an impressive 6 3/4-length victory on April 5 at Keeneland to win the initial 2-year-old maiden special weight contest of the central Kentucky track’s spring meet.

The chestnut son of Sky Mesa rolled through 4 1/2-furlongs in :51.62, taking command at the top of the stretch before increasing his margin for the run down the lane.

Skyway is owned by John Oxley, who also campaigned SkyMesa, and trained by Mark Casse. Bred in New York, Skyway is out of the Pulpit mare Bedside Manner, a stakes winner of $262,223. Bedside Manner is the dam of seven winners, including Ava K., a three-time stakes winner.

Casse purchased Skyway on behalf of Oxley for $165,000 at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton October Kentucky Yearling sale.
