World Record zipped to a 6 ¼-length maiden special weight win May 27 at Churchill Downs, earning the 3-year-old Gun Runner colt a TDN Rising Star tag for the stellar outing [WATCH RACE].
The bay was making his second lifetime start in the seven-furlong race for 3-year-olds. Hustled out of the gate from post 1, World Record had a one-length advantage after a quarter-mile. He maintained the margin rounding the turn, then pulled away with authority after coming into the stretch. He was geared down late to finish in a very solid 1:22.71 on a fast track.
The final time was good for a Beyer Speed Figure of 89.
World Record is owned by Siena Farm LLC and WinStar Farm LLC, who purchased him for $410,000 at the 2021 Keeneland November sale. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Runnymede Farm LLC, Falguieres Bloodstock, Gestut Zur Kuste AG, et al.
Gun Runner is currently the #3 sire in North America with nearly $9 million in progeny earnings. World Record is his 12th TDN Rising Star, joining luminaries such as Echo Zulu, Taiba and Sierra Leone.
