Candy Aisle rolled to a 4 ¼-length victory in Saturday’s $75,000 Manzano S. to simultaneously give the 2-year-old Gun Runner filly her maiden and first stakes win.
She is one of Gun Runner’s 14 stakes winners this year, adding to his remarkable season that includes a nation’s-best 11 Grade 1 horses. Gun Runner’s average earnings per starter is $77, 021, nearly $14,000 higher than any other stallion standing in North America.
Candy Aisle set off the early pace before making her four-wide bid for the lead. She quickly inhaled the pacesetters and drew off late to win going away in 1:09.11 for the six furlongs on a fast track.
The winner is owned by Randy Andrews, Jim Cone, Brad King and Lee Lewis. She was bred in Kentucky by the Gun Runner Syndicate and C. W. Swann. Out of Rosalie Road, Candy Aisle is a half-sister to five-time stakes winner Offering Plan. Rosalie Road’s half-brother Adore the Gold won the Swale S. (G2).
Currently second overall on the 2023 General Sire list with $14.1 million in progeny earnings, Gun Runner will stand the 2024 season for $250,000 S&N.
