Paraclete’s three-length victory in a Dec. 20 maiden special weight race at Turfway Park marked the 25th winner for First-Crop sire Volatile, the second-most for any freshman sire in North America.

Paraclete won the 1 1/16-mile race for 2-year-olds with a bold three-wide move just before entering the stretch. He had sat in third just behind the leaders until midway on the final bend, when he swung off the fence and took aim at the frontrunners. He emerged on top in upper stretch and drew away late to secure the win.

A bay colt owned by Marcano Racing, Paraclete was bred in Kentucky by Rebecca Farms LLC.

Volatile has accounted for six stakes horses among his 25 winners, which also ranks in the top five on the First-Crop list. Volatile’s 2025 fee is listed at $12,500 LFSN.
