Three Chimneys Farm LLC’s homebred filly Pretty Ana repelled a game challenge by Alpine Princess to earn her first graded stakes win in the $200,000 Comely S. (G3) Sunday at Aqueduct.
The 3-year-old filly, who is a half-sister to Gun Runner, was challenged every step of the way in the 1 1/8-mile Comely. For the first six furlongs, it was Dororthy’s Dream who put the pressure on. When she began to fade, Alpine Princess took up the chore and was head-to-head with Pretty Ana in upper stretch. The duo were side by side the rest of the way, with Pretty Ana winning by a head in 1:49.99 on the fast track.
“I’m so happy for Mr. Torrealba and the whole Three Chimneys team,” winning trainer Chad Brown said. “This is their core family, and this filly is worth quite a bit of money. Hopefully they keep her in training next year and we can build on her resume. She’s lovely to have and on top of what she did today, she’s a very classy horse and a pleasure to have around.”
Pretty Ana, who placed in the Mother Goose S. (G3) last month, is now 2-0-3 in nine starts and has earned $203,869. Quiet Giant, Pretty Ana’s dam, is herself a Grade 2 winner and struck gold as a broodmare with Gun Runner as her first foal. Quiet Giant is a half-sister to Horse of the Year Saint Liam, as well as Grade 1 winner and Three Chimneys stallion Funtastic.
