Babybluesbdancing scored her third straight win, and first in a stakes, on Saturday with a 1 1/4-length victory in Hawthorne’s $50,000 Illinois Debutante S.

The 2-year-old Sky Mesa filly was also making her first start around two turns, but she handled easily after stalking in third for more than half the trip, then pulled clear in the stretch (VIDEO).

Trainer Terrell Gore was both excited and relieved afterward.

“I was so nervous I couldn’t stand it,” said the trainer. “The races you get the most nervous in are the ones you think that you should do good.  She’s looked like she would be a two turn horse from the very start. And, I thought…I knew she had it in her to do it and she had the experience over most of them But, until it’s over, you never know.

“She’s going to get a good vacation right now.  She’ll come back in about April or May.”

The bay filly has raced six times since May and has amassed $70,970 in earnings with a record of 3-1-1 for owner Lizabeth Gore. The filly’s dam, Bluesbdancing, was a six-time stakes winner of $412,503.

Babybluesbdancing is the 10th stakes winner this year for Sky Mesa, whose progeny have passed the $5.1 million mark in earnings this year. Sky Mesa will stand for $15,000 next year at Three Chimneys Farm.
