My Impression’s powerful stretch run carried the 3-year-old Sky Mesa filly to her first stakes victory in Wednesday’s $50,000 Christiana S. at Delaware Park.
My Impression is Sky Mesa’s second stakes winner this month and sixth overall in 2016.
Coming out of the infield chute on the turf course, My Impression hustled over from post 10 to find clear running in the three path going into the first turn. Not too far off the pace, the Shug McGaughey trainee stay in her lane virtually the entire way, moving up to challenge for the lead with three furlongs to run, then drawing clear at the top of the lane (VIDEO).
The final time for the “about” 1 1/16-miles was 1:44.48.
With the win, the Stuart Janney III homebred is now 3-0-0 in five starts and has earned $80,815. My Imrpression is a daughter of Impressionism, whose dam Sky Blue Pink annexed the Thoroughbred Club of America S. (G3) at Keeneland and is a sister to multiple stakes winner Freddie Frisson.
