Babybluesbdancing was much the best in Saturday’s $50,000 Purple Violet S. at Arlington Park, taking the one-mile main track contest for 3-year-old fillies by seven lengths.

The daughter of Sky Mesa was making her first stakes start since taking the Hawthorne Debutante S. last December. She is now 4-2-1 in nine starts and has earned $110,021 for her owner Lizabeth Gore.

Babybluesbdancing is Sky Mesa’s 10th stakes horse of 2017 and is one of 60 lifetime black type winners for the Three Chimneys stallion.

Despite being in the three-path the entire way down the backstretch and around the turn, Babybluesbdancing was well in hand for Julio Felix and took over the lead in upper stretch, the drew off in the final furlong for the impressive victory (VIDEO).

“She was a little sharper than usual,” said Felix after the win. “I got lucky I was able to get her back in the first few jumps. I saw the speed horses (coming back) at the eighth pole and was able to get her clear. She’s a big filly and I wanted to give her clear sailing today.”

The winner is the second foal out of Bluesbdancing, who was a six-time stakes winner of over $400,000.
