Lucylou Who drew off in the final furlong of the $75,000 Original Gold S. Apr. 16 at Charles Town Races to give the daughter of Sky Mesa her first stakes victory (WATCH RACE).
The chestnut filly chased Moonlit Shadow through a half-mile in :48.25 before moving along side the early leader. She took the lead for good on the final turn and powered away in the stretch for a three-length win in the seven-furlong contest.
Lucylou Who, owned by her breeder Robert L. Cole, Jr., now has won three races in a row and is an excellent 7-2-1 in 12 lifetime starts, with earnings of $194,332.
Stalwart stallion Sky Mesa now has 76 lifetime stakes winners, including five champions. With an additional 74 black type horses, his total of stakes horses now stands at 150. His 2023 fee is $10,000 S&N.
