Eyeinthesky’s well-timed rally carried the 3-year-old Sky Mesa filly to a head victory in Sunday’s $100,000 Galway S. on the Saratoga turf course.
Winner of the Mizdirection S. on the Aqueduct turf in April, Eyeinthesky upped her record to 4-2-2 in 14 starts and earnings to $242,536 with Sunday’s win.
On top just a few strides out of the gate, the bay filly dropped back off the pace to do her best running late. Comimg five-wide into the stretch, she chipped away at the margin and hit the wire just ahead of Abyssinian to get the five furlongs in 1:01.39 on the firm course.
The winner is owned by Gary Barber and bred by Rusty Kindratiw. She is Sky Mesa’s second stakes winner at Saratoga this month, following Perfect Alibi’s win in the $200,000 Adirondack S. (G2) for 2-year-old fillies on Aug. 4.
