Three Chimneys Farm is pleased to announce stud fees for the 2020 breeding season. Their roster is headlined by 2017 Horse of the Year, Gun Runner, whose fee will remain unchanged at $70,000. Gun Runner captured six Grade I wins including the Breeders’ Cup Classic (GI) and Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. (GI) before retiring to stud in 2018 with $15,988,500 in career earnings.
“I have been across the state to see most of the Gun Runner foals, and it’s an exceptional first crop. They’re good sized, well-balanced, athletic and have a lot of class. We couldn’t be more pleased about his prospects. Most breeders seem to be telling me it’s their best foal on the farm, or it’s the best foal a mare has thrown yet, that sort of positive feedback. The biggest problem I’ve had is that we couldn’t convince Ron Winchell or Mr. Torrealba to sell any of their 25 weanlings between them – they have some real stars from some great mares – it’s exciting to see the quality out there. ” said Three Chimneys Stallion Director Tom Hamm.
Three Chimneys also stands freshman stallions Palace Malice and Fast Anna who have each sired multiple stakes winners from their first crop. A stud fee for Palace Malice will be released following the Breeders’ Cup in November, where he has two runners.
“Three Chimneys freshman sires Palace Malice and Fast Anna are doing quite well. Palace Malice currently has two horses pointing to the Breeders’ Cup, stakes winner and Grade 2 placed Crystalle, and undefeated Structor who won the Grade 3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont. Fast Anna has also gotten off to a nice start with three individual stakes winners. The future looks bright for these two freshman sires who have already begun proving their value,” said Tom Hamm Director of Stallion Seasons.
Stalwart Sky Mesa, whose stud fee will remain unchanged at $15,000, has sired eight stakes winners in 2019 including Grade I Spinaway Stakes winner and Breeders’ Cup bound Perfect Alibi. Will Take Charge, the leading second-crop sire by Graded Stakes Performers, will stand for a fee of $15,000 as well.
Grade I winner Sharp Azteca, who ran the fastest Ragozin of -2 ¼ in 2017, will take up second year stud duties for a fee of $10,000.
