In Awe of Juju persevered through the long Fair Grounds stretch to break her maiden at first asking on Dec. 28, winning the six-furlong race over sloppy going by three-quarters of a length.
The gray/roan 2-year-old filly is Volatile’s 26 winner this year, which is the second most indviduals among all First-Crop sires.
In Awe of Juju found a good spot soon after the start, tracking a few lengths off a lively first quarter-mile of :21.96. She lost a bit of ground behind a slow second quarter-mile, then rallied strongly in the stretch, switching from inside to out in the final furlong to strike the front in the final sixteenth to secure the win.
In Awe of Juju is owned by Rob Hutcherson’s Shamrock Stables LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Titletown Racing Stables & BRS. She is the first foal out of Inaweofnooneatall, who is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Bel Air Beauty.
