Top-10 First-Crop sire Volatile got his second maiden special weight winner of the weekend on Sunday at Gulfstream Park when the filly Volatiled weaved her way to a two-length victory.
The gray-roan filly had to come from last in the six-furlong race, but was more than up to the task. She launched her bid with a half-mile to go as she rapidly advanced along the rail around the turn. After checking herself on a couple of occasions, she finally found clear running with a furlong to run and exploded past the leaders to win going away.
Volatiled is the 17th overall winner from Volatile’s first crop. She is owned and bred by John Penn. Volatiled is a half-sister to graded stakes placed Mr Raj and her dam Sonja’s Angel was also graded stakes placed.
Volatile, the sire of a pair of Grade 1 performers this year, will stand the 2025 season for $12,500 LFSN.
