D R C’s Pretty Sky battled to a neck victory in the $75,000 Zia Park Distaff S. on Nov. 23 to give the 3-year-old Sky Mesa filly her second stakes win of the year and fifth lifetime victory overall.
Sky Mesa’s 2016 resume includes 102 winners, 10 stakes winners and 17 stakes horses, with his progeny earnings nearing the $5 million mark.
D R C’s Pretty Sky moved from her early position in fourth to the lead with about a furlong to run, then withstood a stout challenge from Wheatfield to finish the six furlongs in 1:09.71.
With the win, D R C’s Pretty Sky upped her record to 5-2-6 from 15 starts and earnings to $224,409. Out of Pretty Valentine, D R C’s Pretty Sky is a full sister to this year’s Ontario Debutante winner Just Be Kind.
